Guardian 4 and New Features in Guardian 3

In our first blog, we are excited to unveil Guardian 4, a new version of Guardian Safety Observation software coming to you next year, and announce a few new features in Guardian 3. Let's get started.

Guardian 4

Guardian 4 will bring a new user interface, improved user experience, and a performant frontend and backend. Tasks that took two to three steps in Guardian 3 can now be done in one step in the new Guardian 4.

Guardian 4 Login Screen

New Template Editor

The template editor received the most focus. We wanted to simplify template creation and create a one-stop shop for administrators creating safety observation templates. You no longer have to jump through four different menus to create a simple question and response.

Guardian 4 Template Editor

You can choose between one, two, three, or four-column layouts, create sections, and add points right within the template editor. All your existing templates will continue to work with no need for modification.

Guardian 4 Template Editor - Conditions

Conditions or logic got an overhaul as well, allowing you to set up whether certain fields show up based on previous answers.

Reporting

Guardian 3 did not have a built-in reporting module and instead relied on Jaspersoft. We did not receive a lot of positive feedback from you regarding Jaspersoft usage and hence will deprecate it with Guardian 4 next year. To ensure a smooth transition, we have built a new reporting API in Guardian 3 that returns JSON with real-time data down to the field value. The API can then be used with PowerBI or any other BI tool for enterprise reporting. Please reach out to us today to enable it within your Guardian 3 instance. You can learn more about all available data in our documentation.

Guardian 4 API

With Guardian 4, we are planning to introduce an in-house, lightweight reporting capability where you can build your own reports by picking the columns you would like to see. Those reports can then be displayed on the dashboard, or you can create a chart from them.

Email Notifications

Guardian 3 and 4 received overhauled email notifications. You can now send email notifications as reminders to complete observations or notify supervisors when observations are created, modified, or completed. You can send notifications to Guardian users, groups, or regular emails. You can also include PDFs as attachments in the email.

Conclusion

We will notify you when the beta is available for you to try Guardian 4 before it launches early next year. However, you can start using the Reporting APIs and Email Notifications today. We are always open to feedback, so do not hesitate to reach out.
